Champions League Betting: Manchester United 6/5 to qualify against PSG with Cavani doubtful for first leg

The French champions are likely to be without the Uruguayan – as well as Neymar – for the clash at Old Trafford, forcing bet365 to cut the hosts’ odds

Manchester United have been cut to 6/5 (2.20) to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League after Edinson Cavani joined Neymar on Paris Saint-Germain’s injury list.

The Uruguayan forward injured a tendon in his hip during PSG’s 1-0 win over Bordeaux on Saturday, and is unlikely to be fit for Tuesday’s trip to Old Trafford.

United were 13/8 (2.63) in the same market two weeks ago after Neymar was confirmed to miss at least the first leg and Cavani’s injury could not have come at a worse time for the Ligue 1 champions.

Thomas Meunier is also going to miss the match in Manchester with a concussion, although bet365 do still make PSG 8/13 (from 4/9) favourites to reach the last eight of the tournament.

bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “The arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the upturn in form, plus key injuries to PSG have seen Manchester United become not only all the rage to qualify past the Parisians (10/3 into 6/5), but even live outsiders to lift the trophy as well (50/1 into 28/1).”

Having won 10 of his 11 games in charge, Solskjaer will be hoping to put his team in the driving seat on Tuesday with another victory and the odds compiler make United 11/8 (2.38) to do just that.

The Red Devils were initially out at 5/2 (3.50) to win the first leg, but with Kylian Mbappe the only fit striker left for PSG, their odds are in freefall.

PSG, on the other hand, were 21/20 (2.05) to win at Old Trafford immediately after the draw was made back in December and after being pushed out to 6/4 (2.50) when Neymar’s injury was confirmed, they are now 21/10 (3.10).

Despite their injury worries, Thomas Tuchel’s men are still 15/2 (8.50) fourth-favourites to win the Champions League, behind Manchester City (10/3), Barcelona (9/2) and Juventus (13/2).

bet365 also go 6/4 (2.50) that an English team lifts the trophy for the first time since 2012 and 9/4 (3.25) that a La Liga side wins it for the sixth time in a row.
