Liverpool go top of the table
Liverpool took on 19th place Fulham this past weekend.
Jurgen Klopp’s side came away 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Sadio Mane and James Milner.
As a result of beating Scott Parker’s side, Liverpool have now gone back to the top of the Premier League.
However, Manchester City have a game in hand on the Reds and will return to the summit if they win it.
Liverpool’s upcoming game will see them host Tottenham after the international break.
TAA on Liverpool’s strong mentality
After scoring a late winner vs relegation-battling Fulham, Trent Alexander-Arnold has been speaking about Liverpool’s character and mental toughness:
“To be able to bounce back and show our character was good for us.
“These are the ones that maybe go unnoticed during the season, but they are vitally important for us. And I think we will probably look back at the end of the season and think that, whatever the outcome may be, this game was important for us.
“Mentally we have been through a lot of tests this week, but come out with three wins and that’s all you can ask from the lads.”As quoted by the Telegraph.
While TAA is arguing Liverpool are mentally strong, there is a case to be made for the opposite of that.
Granted Liverpool are just one point behind Man City (should City win their game in hand). But at one point in the season, Liverpool had a seven-point lead at the top of the table.
They have only lost one league games this season but they have drawn games against the likes of West Ham and Leicester, fixtures they really should be winning.
