Andre Gomes’ Barcelona nightmare coming to an end
Andre Gomes is ‘very close’ to leaving Barcelona permanently with Everton and an unnamed club said to be interested in completing a move.
Portuguese star Gomes made his name with Valencia as he impressed the entirety of La Liga with his performances.
Barcelona took note and moved to sign Gomes for 37 million euros back in the summer of 2016.
However, his inconsistent performances meant that he found himself on the fringes of the team.
That lead to the summer transfer window of 2018 when Everton came to negotiating table.
After signing both Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne, Everton secured the loan signing of Gomes.
Since then, the player has been largely impressive for the Toffees.
Now, there’s been a huge update on his long-term future.
Everton or an unnamed club?
That is because according to SPORT, Andre Gomes is ‘very close’ to leaving Barcelona.
The interesting twist in this report is that he won’t necessarily be joining Everton.
While Everton are said to be the ‘best placed’ for a transfer, ‘there is another team that is also interested in the signing of the Portuguese footballer.’
Though, that club remains unnamed.
Tottenham were linked with a move for Gomes not too long ago.
Sport continue their report by discussing how much Gomes could actually sell for.
According to their report, ‘Everton would be willing to pay between 25 and 30 million euros for the definitive transfer of the Portuguese midfielder’
That would represent a loss for Barcelona but could be seen as a pretty good price for Everton considering some of Gomes’ performances.
If Sport’s report is to be believed, it won’t be long until Gomes’ future is certain.
