Andreas Christensen drops hint over Chelsea future

Soccer News

Where will Christensen be next season?

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has dropped a hint in regards to his future at Stamford Bridge after exit rumours over past transfer windows.

The Danish defender has not been a key player for Chelsea in recent seasons.

Despite some pretty impressive performances, Antonio Rüdiger and David Luiz have often been preferred.

Due to frustrations with time on the pitch, Christensen was linked with a move away.

His agent and father, Sten, admitted that should his situation not improve, they would look for a move in the January transfer window.

“I’m of the conviction that we’ll attempt to move Andreas in the winter time [if he’s not playing],” he explained, as quoted by Goal.

“Around Christmas, something else needs to happen.”

Though, the January transfer window came and went, with Andreas Christensen remaining a Chelsea player.

Christensen drops hint over his future

Now, Christensen has been speaking about his future ahead of the summer transfer window.

It now looks as though both his and his father’s stance has changed.

Speaking to Danish outlet BT, Christensen explained that while the season started badly, he is now happy with the number of chances he’s getting and how he has a ‘fight almost every week’ for a first-team spot.

“It started low, but lately I have had several games that I have enjoyed,” he explained.

“I had hoped I’d had more matches. Right now, it’s okay, it feels like there’s a fight every week. I have come into a good rhythm.”

When asked about whether he is thinking about a summer exit, Christensen rebuffed the idea.

“Well, not really,” he continued.

“I’ve been incredibly focused on the battles I get. Now I finally have a fight almost every week for the first time in the season.

“Right now I enjoy it, and it is clear that we have got a transfer path, which I do not think is going to mean much to me. But that is not something I think and think about.”
