Arsenal eyeing summer move for Charlton’s Joe Aribo

Soccer News

Arsenal to land Aribo on the cheap

Arsenal are interested in signing Charlton Athletic star Joe Aribo, according to the Mirror.

The Gunners have reportedly watched Aribo several times already this season.

Aribo would also cost Arsenal virtually nothing as he is out of contract with the League One side in July.

However, as he is 22, Arsenal would have to pay a small compensation fee to Charlton, should they sign him.

As per the report from the Mirror, Charlton had offered Aribo a new deal last summer.

But they would for some reason, withdraw the deal and offer a new one for half the wages.

As a result, Aribo turned it down and now Charlton could be set to lose one of their biggest stars on a free.

The midfielder has made 26 appearances across all competitions this season, in which he has scored six and assisted two.

Arsenal continue top four fight

While Arsenal have seemingly begun to plan for the summer, they must first concentrate on securing a Champions League place.

Unai Emery’s side are currently 4th in the Premier League with eight games left to play.

Their recent good form has seen them go just one point behind 3rd place Tottenham.

However, they are also just two points above 5th place Man United and three points above 6th place Chelsea.

When the international break draws to a close, Arsenal will play host to Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle side.

The Magpies sit 13th in the league and have lost just one of their last five.
