Everton have some big competition
Serie A giants Inter Milan are set to rival Everton for the permanent signing of Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes in the summer.
After failing to grasp a first-team spot at Barcelona, Gomes needed to leave for some regular minutes on the pitch.
That lead to his loan move to Everton, following Barcelona teammates Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne who joined the Toffees on permanent deals.
During his time at Goodison, Gomes has largely impressed.
While an injury delayed his debut, Gomes soon became an integral part of Marco Silva’s Everton team.
Though, with the midfielder only on loan, it is time for Everton to start negotiating a permanent deal for this summer.
Now, Everton’s hopes of securing a permanent deal have possibly been dented.

That is because according to SPORT, Inter Milan are looking to sign the midfielder.
The good news for Everton fans is that according to the report, Gomes informed Barcelona ‘of the decision to push on with a move [to Everton] in a meeting a few weeks ago. ‘
As a result, SPORT say Everton are trying to get a deal done as soon as possible after being made aware of interest from other clubs.
Though, ‘Inter have stepped in and asked Gomes to wait’ until the summer to decide his future.
Inter are waiting to see if they qualify for next years Champions League.
That would allow the club to spend significantly more in the summer window.
However, SPORT end their report by explaining Everton ‘remain confident’ of getting a deal done before Inter enter the fray in the summer.
