Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi & England

He’s yet to make a Premier League start for Chelsea, but Callum Hudson-Odoi has been called up to the England squad.

Hudson-Odoi, 18, told the media that he thought Gareth Southgate was joking when he spoke to the manger on the phone.

The 18-year-old winger has mainly been used in Chelsea’s cup competitions this season.

He’s made eight appearances in the Europa League scoring four goals.

Hudson-Odoi has also featured in six Premier League matches this season.

Liverpool vs Bayern Munich

Christian Falk, the chief football writer for Germany’s Sport Bild, has posted an update on the transfer race to sign Hudson-Odoi this summer.

Back in January, Bayern Munich tried to sign the Chelsea teenager repeatedly.

The Blues rebuffed the approaches, amid reports that Hudson-Odoi could cost around 35 million pounds.

On Thursday, Christian Falk reports that Bayern retain an interest in Hudson-Odoi. However the talks between the Bavarians and Chelsea are at a standstill.

Could Liverpool also make a move? Falk reports that Liverpool are “still interested” in the Chelsea flyer.

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s next move

Hudson-Odoi is under contract at Chelsea until 2020.

Chelsea are under facing a UEFA transfer ban for the next two windows.

The Blues are appealing, however in the event the ban sticks, one would assume Chelsea would be reticent to selling Hudson-Odoi.

Yet, unless the youngster gets more minutes at Stamford Bridge, he could still force a move through.

Bayern Munich could be the smarter move. Jadon Sancho has shown how young English kids can prosper in the Bundesliga.

While Bayern are about to hit a major transition period with Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery dropping out the could.

Hudson-Odoi could fill one of those flanks positions at the Allianz Arena.

And Liverpool? Klopp could be viewing Hudson-Odoi as a future winger at Anfield.

The Chelsea winger would offer an alternative to mix up the Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Frimino triumvirate.
