Supporters of Tottenham have this morning flooded to social media, to react to the news of their side being drawn against Premier League rivals Manchester City in the Champions League.
The draw for the quarter-finals of Europe’s premiere club competition took place a short time ago.
Following a drama-filled, comeback-laden round-of-16. the remaining sides in the competition were Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham, Barcelona, Juventus, Porto and Ajax.
As such, ahead of the draw, the remaining European heavyweights were no doubt eyeing a final-8 meeting with either Porto or Ajax (despite the latter’s stunning performance to oust champions Real Madrid from the tournament).
And the first 2 draws pulled this morning included both of these sides, with Ajax having first been pitted against Italian champions Juventus, before Porto were handed a pair of meetings with Liverpool.
The final of the names revealed, meanwhile, saw Manchester United handed a tough tie with La Liga powerhouse Barcelona, meaning Tottenham and Manchester City represents the lone all-Premier League quarter-final matchup.

And it is safe to say that news of their side being pitted against the might of English champions City has since not gone down particularly well with the majority of Spurs’ fanbase.
After the North Londoners took to Twitter to ask their supporters for their respective ‘thoughts on the draw’, the Tottenham faithful quickly flooded to the comments section, with the overwhelming reaction having been one of doom and gloom:

Maybe playing in the new stadium will provide a boost for us. If we can score two goals & not concede in the first leg, we may have a chance! pic.twitter.com/uEKYWoLZ4n

There were some, albeit very few, who chose to remain positive, though:
