As per a report from the Gazzetta Dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur sent scouts to watch Sampdoria star Joachim Andersen in action yesterday afternoon.
Andersen, a 22-year-old Danish youth international, is widely-regarded as one of the finest young defenders in Serie A.
The stopper made the move to Sampdoria from FC Twente in 2017, after coming up through the youth ranks of the Dutch outfit.
After a difficult debut campaign at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, during which he managed just 6 league starts, Andersen has since gone on to establish himself as a near ever-present in the backline of the Blucerchiati to this point in the current season.
All told, the 6ft4 inch Dane has racked up 33 starts across all competitions. In fact, Andersen has failed to earn a starting berth for just 2 of Sampdoria’s fixtures thus far this season.
As such, the increasingly-impressive showings of the talented stopper, who has also been widely-lauded for his abilities on the ball, have unsurprisingly led to Andersen being linked with a potential Samp departure this summer.
In Italy, the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan have both been named as keen admirers of the former Twente man’s talents.
However, recent weeks have seen Premier League outfit Tottenham singled out as Andersen’s most-insistent suitors.
After Il Secolo XIX first claimed that talks had been opened between Spurs and Sampdoria over a potential summer deal for the Dane, Tuttosport last month went a step further, by suggesting that a fee of 25 million Euro had been agreed upon for Andersen to make the move to North London.

Tottenham in attendance
While such claims may have jumped the gun, though, Spurs nevertheless appear to be continuing to closely monitor the progress of the Danish starlet.
As per the aforementioned update from the Gazzetta Dello Sport, the capital outfit had representatives present at Sampdoria’s Derby della Lanterna clash with Genoa yesterday afternoon, to watch Andersen in action.
The stopper played the full 90 minutes, helping his side to a 2-0 win.
