Jorge Mendes to push Bruno Fernandes Man Utd transfer over the line after delay
Super agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly ready to push Manchester United’s move for Bruno Fernandes over the line on Wednesday.
Fernandes is believed to be close to joining the Red Devils but talks have slowed since Sporting Lisbon chiefs met United bosses at their London offices on Friday.
They are believed to be considering their options with Andreas Pereira, Joel Pereira, Marcos Rojo and Angel Gomes all said to be on the table in a potential cash plus swap deal worth £60million.
According to A Bola, Mendes is now ready to enter negotiations having been delayed due to dealing with Gedson Fernandes’ Tottenham move.
Benfica youngster Fernandes reportedly underwent a Spurs medical on Monday and is set to complete a loan deal with an option to buy, allowing Mendes to turn his attentions to his namesake.
Bruno Fernandes’ main agent is his brother in law, Miguel Pinho, and he reportedly rejected the chance to work with Mino Raiola .
But Mendes has joined forces to work as an intermediary in the deal and has a good relationship with United.
The Portuguese, best known for representing Cristiano Ronaldo, will now look to ensure his client secures a long-awaited Premier League move after informing Sporting Lisbon he is keen to head to United.
Sporting are believed to be digging their heels in to delay a move in a bid to allow him to play one last time in their local derby with Benfica on Friday.
But United want a deal done and could also look to Mendes’ involvement at the negotiating table to help ensure they get the transfer over the line as soon as possible.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remained tight-lipped when asked about Fernandes at his press conference on Tuesday.
“I’ve got no transfer updates,” Solskjaer said.
“If we get something that we can tell you about we will but I’ve got no news now.”
